Do you make coffee while others sleep? This coffee maker has a rather loud “alert tone” — 5 beeps that sound when the coffee finishes brewing.
In my house, this can be heard in the upstairs bedrooms with doors closed. It sounds like an alarm clock. It wakes people up.
There is no way to disable it — I called Cuisinart and asked.
For me, this absurd design flaw makes the rest of the story on this coffee maker completely irrelevant — great coffee, easy to pour, comes out hot. None of that matters.

I spent nearly 2 months searching reviews for coffee makers! I was most impressed by the Cuisinart which has more positive reviews than most for this price range coffee maker. In a moment of weakness, I purchased the Hamilton Beach Brew Station at Walmart since the price was so good. After one pot, I returned it…..the unit was so cheaply manufactured, I have vowed never to purchase another Hamilton Beach product. They couldn’t possibly be proud of their quality in this particular product. I was hesitant to buy the Cuisinart Factory Re-conditioned coffee maker, but it was the one that I could afford after searching for the best price. I went to our local Gabriel Brothers store one day for some new pillows, and to my surprise they had the Cuisinart DCC-1100BK 12 cup coffee maker! It was refurbished from the factory, sealed in the box with a 30-day warranty. The BEST part was, it was $29 !!! I could afford the price, and figured why not…I was never going to find it at this price (especially with shipping costs on the internet). I took the unit home and unpacked it right away……it was perfect!! It looked brand new to me, great quality which I expected from Cuisinart and totally packaged as a new one, instructions included. End result: I absolutely love this machine!! I couldn’t be happier!! People seem to be bothered by the filler area for the water, but I have no problem at all…..use a plastic (because it’s lighter than glass) tall, 4 cup measuring cup…and pour slowly…I have never spilled a drop yet. You do have to slide the unit out from under the cabinet to fill it, but I just keep it on a folded tea towel which enables it to slide out easily! This holds about 8 cups of water or 64 oz. It doesn’t take long for the brew to finish, and it’s HOT and yummy. (Stays hot too). Has the automatic shut off too, so you don’t have to worry about burning the pot! It also beeps at the end of the brewing cycle AND when the unit turns off after 2 hrs (or you can select how long you want it to stay on!) The pot is perfect…no leaking when you pour, and a very sturdy glass pot! You can hear the coffee brewing which doesn’t bother me…I kind of like it! It uses the cone filters which I prefer….I tried pouring a cup during the cycle and no leaking there either. I really don’t think you can go wrong with this unit. It has all the functions I needed and they all work perfectly! Highly Recommend!!! Have a great day, I’m going to have another cup of coffee!!

After comparing the DCC-1200 and the DCC-1100 we decided to go with the 1100. This is an excellent machine. I have always used a french press but my husband wanted something with the timer function. Neither of us wanted to substitute quality of taste and this maker fits the bill. I have no idea what people are referring to about it being difficult to fill with water. Maybe they are just REALLY uncoordinated?
We find it very user friendly. The carafe pours very well with no splashing and the white and stainless looks very classy. You can feel the quality when you compare it to other drip coffee makers.

This coffeemaker makes the perfect cup. In addition to the fact that this is a very beautiful looking coffeemaker (the stainless is very appealing next to the pristine white), the directions of how to program the maker are easy to follow and understand. The beep to let you know the coffee is ready isn’t too quiet nor too loud (I really don’t understand the complaining about the alarm being too loud). Your coffee is piping hot and stays that way. My favorite part of the entire thing is the carafe. The pour spout doesn’t let a single drop escape. That is a huge annoyance with the Mr. Coffee in the kitchen at my office–no matter how careful you are or at what angle you pour, it all comes spilling down the front of the pot, creating a huge, not to mention scorching, mess. This carafe pours perfectly into both the coffeemaker and your cup. I know a few have complained about the lack of room to pour the water in the machine. It is a pretty small opening, but the carafe performs so well it doesn’t make it difficult. I pull the coffeemaker a little closer to me to pour the water (a must anyway since it’s below a cabinet in my kitchen), and it pours perfectly–and I’m short!! If someone my height has no problem pouring, I don’t see why anyone else should. All around a fantastic product that I would absolutely recommend to anyone.
